The Full Circle

Nothing Goes to Waste

When a piece of reclaimed lumber comes into our yard, our first priority is to sell it as lumber — for framing, flooring, cladding, or structural use. But not every board that arrives is suited for resale as building material. Some pieces are too short, too narrow, too damaged, or too irregular for standard lumber applications.

Instead of discarding that material, we channel it into our recycled wood products program. Skilled woodworkers in our shop convert offcuts, irregular stock, and milling byproducts into finished goods — furniture, home decor, garden products, and bulk landscape materials. Every piece of wood that enters our facility finds a purpose.

This approach is central to our sustainability mission. The lumber industry generates enormous volumes of waste at every stage — harvesting, milling, construction, and demolition. By operating a closed-loop system where every byproduct becomes a product, we demonstrate that zero-waste wood processing is not just possible but practical and profitable.

01

Furniture

Our furniture line is built from reclaimed lumber right here at our Boise facility. Every piece is made from wood that would otherwise be landfill waste — barn wood, salvaged timbers, decommissioned flooring, and surplus stock from our milling operations. These are not mass-produced replicas styled to look reclaimed. They are built from genuinely reclaimed material by woodworkers who understand the character and structural properties of aged wood.

Dining & Farm Tables

Custom-built dining tables and farm tables using reclaimed Douglas fir, oak, and pine planks. Trestle, slab, and leg-base designs. Sizes from intimate two-seaters to 12-foot conference tables. Each top is assembled from boards selected for grain consistency and color harmony, then flattened, sanded, and sealed with a durable clear finish.

Benches & Seating

Entryway benches, mudroom benches, and outdoor seating built from reclaimed timbers and planks. Live-edge and slab-top options available. Bases range from simple timber legs to welded steel hairpin and industrial frames. Indoor and outdoor finish options.

Shelving & Storage

Floating shelves, bracket shelves, bookcase units, and storage benches made from reclaimed wood. Barn wood shelves with original patina are our most popular item — they install with concealed hardware and add instant character to any wall.

Desks & Work Surfaces

Standing desks, writing desks, and workbench tops built from reclaimed hardwoods and softwoods. Live-edge slabs and joined panels available in widths up to 36 inches and lengths up to 8 feet. Pre-drilled for standard desk frame and leg systems.

02

Decor & Accent Pieces

Smaller items and accent pieces that bring reclaimed wood character into homes, offices, restaurants, and retail spaces. These products make excellent gifts and are popular with interior designers looking for one-of-a-kind statement pieces that carry genuine history.

Mantels & Floating Beams

Fireplace mantels and decorative floating beams milled from reclaimed timbers. We offer solid timber mantels (heavy, authentic) and hollow box beams (lightweight, easy to install) in lengths up to 10 feet. Finish options include natural aged patina, wire-brushed, hand-hewn, and smooth-sanded.

Wall Art & Mosaics

Geometric wall art panels and mosaic installations assembled from mixed-species reclaimed wood cutoffs. Each panel combines different colors, grains, and textures — barn wood grey, warm pine, dark walnut, weathered cedar — arranged in herringbone, chevron, or abstract patterns.

Cutting Boards & Serving Trays

End-grain and edge-grain cutting boards made from reclaimed hardwoods — maple, oak, walnut, and cherry. Food-safe mineral oil and beeswax finish. Serving trays, charcuterie boards, and bread boards built from joined reclaimed planks with live-edge or milled edges.

Picture Frames & Mirrors

Barn wood picture frames and mirror frames in standard and custom sizes. The weathered surface is left largely untouched — cleaned, sealed, and assembled with mitered or butted corners depending on the look. Available in single units or matched sets.

03

Garden & Outdoor Products

Recycled wood products designed for exterior and garden use. Built from species with natural decay resistance — cedar, redwood, and treated reclaimed lumber — these products perform in Idaho's climate while keeping usable wood out of the waste stream.

Raised Garden Beds

Raised bed kits built from reclaimed cedar and untreated lumber in 4x4, 4x8, and custom sizes. Beds are 12 to 24 inches tall with corner brackets for easy assembly. The wood is naturally rot-resistant and safe for growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers without concern about chemical leaching.

Planter Boxes & Window Boxes

Freestanding planter boxes and wall-mounted window boxes made from reclaimed wood. Lined with landscape fabric to protect the wood interior. Sizes range from small herb planters to large patio containers. Drainage holes pre-drilled.

Compost Bins

Three-bin compost systems and single-bin composters built from reclaimed lumber with removable front slats for easy turning. Designed for the home gardener who wants a sturdy, attractive composting setup that does not rely on plastic construction.

Fencing & Trellis Panels

Privacy fence panels, garden trellises, and arbor structures built from reclaimed cedar and fir. Custom heights and widths available. These panels use lumber that is too short or narrow for standard milling but is perfectly functional for garden structures.

Mulch, Chips & Bulk Materials

Our milling operations generate a steady stream of sawdust, wood chips, shavings, and bark that we process into bulk landscape and agricultural products. Nothing leaves our facility as waste — every byproduct of our milling and processing operations is captured and converted into a usable product.

Landscape Mulch

Double-ground wood mulch produced from our milling byproducts and recycled lumber that cannot be resold as building material. Available in natural (uncolored), dark brown, and cedar-tinted. Sold by the cubic yard for pickup or delivery. Minimum delivery order is 3 cubic yards.

Wood Chips

Coarse wood chips for pathways, play areas, weed suppression, and erosion control. Produced from chipped recycled lumber and milling waste. Larger chip size provides longer-lasting ground cover and better drainage than fine mulch. Available by the cubic yard.

Animal Bedding Shavings

Clean, kiln-dried wood shavings packaged for horse stalls, poultry coops, and small animal bedding. Produced from our planing operations using untreated softwood lumber. Low dust, high absorbency, and naturally odor-controlling. Available in compressed bales and bulk.

Sawdust

Fine sawdust available in bulk for composting, smoking and grilling (food-grade hardwood varieties), and industrial applications. Species-specific sawdust — apple, cherry, hickory, mesquite — available in smaller quantities for barbecue and meat-smoking enthusiasts.

Retail & Office

Display fixtures, shelving systems, reception desks, conference tables, and wall treatments for retail stores, coworking spaces, and professional offices. Reclaimed wood adds warmth and story to commercial interiors.

Residential Custom

One-of-a-kind headboards, entertainment centers, kitchen islands, bathroom vanity tops, mudroom organizers, and built-in storage pieces. Bring your design, dimensions, and species preference — we handle the rest.

Event & Seasonal

Wedding arches, ceremony backdrops, table centerpieces, signage, and seasonal decorations made from reclaimed wood. Short lead times available for event-specific items. Rental options for wedding and event pieces.

Environmental Impact

Sustainability in Every Product

Our recycled wood products program is not a side project — it is a core pillar of our business model and our environmental commitment.

Zero Waste Milling

Our milling operations run on a zero-waste model. Lumber offcuts become furniture stock. Sawdust becomes mulch and animal bedding. Bark becomes landscape material. Wood chips become pathway cover. The only material that leaves our facility in a dumpster is non-wood contamination — nails, staples, and hardware removed during de-nailing.

Cascading Use Hierarchy

We follow a cascading use hierarchy: the highest-value use comes first. A reclaimed beam is sold as a beam. If it has a defect, it is resawn into boards. If the boards are too short for standard use, they become furniture stock. If they are too small for furniture, they go into mosaic panels or cutting boards. Only material that cannot serve any structural, decorative, or functional purpose is chipped for mulch.

Local Supply Chain

Every recycled wood product we sell is made from material sourced within our regional network and manufactured at our Boise facility. There are no container ships, no cross-country trucking, and no offshore production. The carbon footprint of a Boise Lumber recycled wood product is a fraction of an equivalent imported item.

Durable by Design

Our recycled wood furniture and products are built to last decades, not seasons. We use traditional joinery, quality hardware, and durable finishes because the most sustainable product is one that never needs to be replaced. Throwaway furniture generates waste; well-built furniture becomes an heirloom.
